2020 Wellness Update

In December we updated a space at our facility where employees can take a relaxation break, work on a puzzle, read a book or just have some quiet time.

We also added 15 grass carp to our pond to help control some of the invasive water plants, not to mention the opportunity it gives us to go outside, congregate and enjoy the scenery.

In addition to our facility updates, over the past 6 months we have had an assortment of staff activities that indulge the eight dimensions of wellness[https://gatorwell.ufsa.ufl.edu/health-topic/8-dimensions-of-wellness/]: emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social and spiritual. Activities have included:

  • Change Management Training
  • Bowling
  • International Potluck
  • Halloween Decorating Contest and Spooky Potluck
  • Holiday Party at Hippodrome
  • Breakfast and Christmas Movie in Pajamas
  • Card Game Breaks

What is to Come:

In early Fall OPWD won the $500 UF Department Wellness Fund. As part of that effort we have used the money to buy planters to fill with plants that complement our facility and enhance our environment. Our next step is to wait for warmer weather to start gardening in our new wellness gardening hats!
